Commission Your Custom Artwork
Welcome to the commission section of my website, where you can bring your unique vision to life with custom-made artwork. Whether it's a beloved pet, a portrait of a loved one, or a favourite flower, I'm here to create a special piece just for you.
Types of Commissions: I offer a variety of commissions, including pet and people portraits, as well as paintings of favourite animals and flowers.
You can choose from materials such as oil, acrylics (suitable for ready to hang stretched gallery canvas) and soft pastel on velour or Pastelmat paper. Oil and acrylics are also suitable for special oil paper if you prefer to frame the portrait.
Styles range from realistic to semi-realistic, depending on your preference.
For those who prefer framed artwork, I work with a local picture framing service for a professional finish. Please ask for a quote if you are interested in this.
Pricing: Pricing is based on the size and material of the artwork. Additional pets or people can be included. The specifics will depend on the size and type of the additional subject, as well as the painting style.
Please see the price list for single portraits below the gallery further down this page.
My Artistic Process: I begin by discussing the nature of your pet or person and what you love most about them. We’ll select the best possible photos and talk about your vision for the portrait. If you’re unsure, I’m happy to make recommendations based on my experience.
Once we have a plan, I request a 20% deposit to secure the booking. I then prepare a sketch and share it with you to ensure it’s exactly what you envisioned. After your approval, I start painting and if you wish will send progress photos, so you can make any adjustments before I move into the detail phase. Once completed, I require the remaining payment and offer you the choice of seeing the painting before shipping or being surprised—many of my clients find the surprise unveiling to be the most emotional and fulfilling moment.
Timeline: The entire process, from creating a sketch and idea board to the finished painting, typically takes a minimum of 4 weeks.
However, if you can allow more time, that’s even better.
My way: In my paintings, the nature and soul of the pet or person shine through. Clients often marvel at the lifelike quality and expressiveness of the eyes, capturing the true essence of the beloved pet or person.
Deposit and Payment: A 20% deposit is required upon booking, with the remaining balance due upon completion.
Photo Requirements: For best results, please provide sharp, clear photos where I can see the details of fur, feathers, hair and eyes.
The face and eyes are particularly important.
If new photos are not possible, I can work from older photos, though it may take longer and be more challenging.
Testimonials: While I’ve never formally asked for reviews, the joy of seeing my clients’ reactions upon opening their portraits has been unforgettable. They have been deeply satisfied with their portraits, often recommending my work to friends and family who also commission pieces. The emotional impact of my artwork has moved many to tears of joy.
Delivery: If you live within a 100 km radius, I will deliver the artwork personally. For greater distances, I use a courier for larger pieces and Australia Post for smaller ones.
